Campsites in Centro de Portugal

Mountains full of hidden villages

Wide, white sandy beaches on the coast and a mountainous shape this is the landscape of Central Portugal. If you have a keen eye, you might discover one of the 27 slate villages tucked away between the mountains, have a look!

Charming villages

These charming villages are called 'slate villages’ for a fairly obvious reason, because they are made of slate. This rock type has different shades that blend into the surroundings. That’s why you sometimes have to search in the mountains of Serra da Lousã, Serra do Açor and close to the Serra da Estrela. The last mountain, the "star mountain", is the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal. Glacial lakes, rugged cliffs, waterfalls and valleys form the backdrop of this nature. Ideal for those who like to walk in their  holidays!

City by the sea

Aveiro is a beautiful seaside city. Along the main channel of the city, many buildings can be found in Art Nouveau style, and at the Convent of Jesus is the Museo de Aveiro – also situated here is the mausoleum of Princess Infanta Joana. Coimbra is a real student city, containing the oldest university in Portugal and also one of the oldest in Europe! Climb the bell tower, where you’ll be rewarded with the best views over the city. Downtown it's all fun shopping and eating. Need a rest from all the walking? Cool off in one of the clear river beaches that Central Portugal is famous for.
