Nestled in the heart of the Dordogne, 4* Campsite Aqua Viva is a small, peaceful resort with a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Enjoying a blissful woodland setting close to Sarlat in the naturally beautiful Périgord area of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the site is ideal for family holidays in the midst of nature.
The outdoor swimming pool complex features a main pool, an adjacent paddling pool and a leafy green surrounding for the ultimate lazy afternoon. The nearby lake offers campers the chance to unwind with a spot of trout fishing.
Although the campsite is ideal for easy escapes, there’s plenty to do onsite and in the local area. The whole family can challenge each other to a game of ping-pong, mini golf, badminton or petanque. Children will enjoy time away from the grown-ups at the mini club that features fun activities such as treasure hunts and creative classes. Many outdoor pursuits are available in close proximity to the resort such as horse riding, canoeing, and treetop climbing with zip lining and cycling.
Although there are no restaurants onsite, you’ll find a great selection of places to eat in nearby Sarlat, along with pizzerias, takeaways, bakeries, supermarkets and shops.
You’ll immediately feel at one with nature in the campsite, especially in the surroundings of your accommodation. Verdant green trees provide shade, peace and privacy on the emplacements that feature modern mobile homes, chalets, tents and pitches with electricity.
The campsite is located in the heart of the Dordogne region in the Périgord Noir – a region rich in history. The Medieval town of Sarlat is 5 miles away and is worth a visit to enjoy its beautiful architecture including a stunning cathedral. The tourist office here has maps available of walks around the town that help you to take in all of the notable sights.
The local area is fantastic for exploring by bike and the closest cycle path is just 3km from the campsite. A must in this region is to hire a canoe or kayak and enjoy a gentle ride down the River Dordogne taking in the beautiful views of clifftop villages. Those with an interest in history will be spoilt with the places to see – the highlights of the region are Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle and Les Grottes de Lacave.
