Although Pignada Ondres is small, there is something to do all day long, in the swimming pool or joining in the fun with the animation team. Fancy going out for the day? Here on the border of Les Landes and French Basque Country there is plenty to discover!
Facilities at Camping Lou PignadaFor an active start to the day, why not participate in an aqua aerobics class. Then the animation team organises games and craft activities so that your children get to make new friends. In the afternoon, it is time to take part in one of the sports tournaments with all family members. Feeling warm? Take a dip in the pool or brave the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Treat yourself to a dinner in the campsite restaurant or pizzeria in the evening and then enjoy a show with dance, music, quiz or magic acts. You will all sleep well afterwards!
French Basque CountryBayonne, the capital of the French Basque Country, is a 15-minute drive from Camping Lou Pignada. A great opportunity to get acquainted with Basque culture, history and architecture. You will be charmed by the white plastered Basque houses with red and green painted shutters and woodwork. In the Musée Basque in Bayonne, you can learn everything about the Basques and their festivals and traditions. The Sainte Marie cathedral is on the way to Compostella and you will find a number of beautiful half-timbered houses on the right. During the Fêtes de Bayonne (late July or early August) with music, parades, fireworks and cow fighting, the Basques celebrate 5 days and nights of celebration. Pack your white outfit and a red scarf. About 40 (car) minutes from Lou Pignada, near the Spanish border, you will find the special village of Espelette. The red peppers that are grown here, hang to dry against the white walls of the white and red Basque houses. Very photogenic!
