This site has a majestic setting in the Carnac area where you can marvel at the many standing stones, some of which are opposite the site. Carnac Ville is around a five minute drive from site and offers some facilities. Carnac Plage is a few minutes drive further on, offering many shops, bars and restaurants. The closest beach is Men-Du which is around ten minutes by car and has a small island which can be reached at low tide.
The Carnac area is rich in Menhirs and dolmens dating from the Neolithic times, between 5000 and 3000BC. The visitor centre in Carnac has some enlightening information. It is worth driving to the north of Carnac to see the Tumulus de Kercado - one of the oldest megalithic structures in the world.
