A much-overlooked destination despite the number of holidaymakers that pass through it, Calais merits a day trip from the campsite. Top sightseeing opportunities in the town include the Les Bourgeois de Calais sculpture, the Second World War museum, the City of Lace and Fashion museum and Calais Lighthouse.

One of the best child-friendly places to visit in the wider area is the Nausicaä sea centre, a wonderful and highly interesting aquarium located in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
