(1) Amendments up to 7 days before arrival without giving any reason are only valid for campsites with the Vacanceselect or Tohapi logo and for accommodation with the blue tent symbol. Any amendments made within six weeks of departure, the holiday cost applied will be at the same or where applicable, at a higher rate. Please note, for 2023 holidays, free amendments can be made up to 14 days before arrival. (2) If it is not possible to travel to your holiday destination, it is possible to change to another campsite or period free of charge from 10 days before arrival. If you want to change to another destination, this only applies to accommodation with the blue Vacanceselect logo. These can be found on the campsite page in the accommodation overview. If, according to the FCDO, it is not possible to travel to your holiday destination 10 days before arrival, you are entitled to a full refund (of course, in this case you can also change your booking free of charge as described above). If we have to cancel your holiday because of circumstances relating to COVID-19, you will receive a full refund.

Things to do when camping in Rhône

Immerse yourself in bracing rural expanses and captivating countryside, as well as soaking up culture, history and steadfast traditions of a brilliant destination while enjoying a camping holiday in Rhône.

Alternating between pastureland, woodland and lush vineyards, the renowned Pays Beaujolais region of the department produces world famous wine but also boasts a riveting landscape for brilliant adventures in the outdoors. Excellent hiking trips can be enjoyed on the slopes leading up to the summit of Mount Brouilly while easier going ambles are best enjoyed in the scenic Saône Valley.

In the heart of the Beaujolais region, a scattering of bright and beautiful villages illuminate the landscape, casting a golden ray over the countryside. This is the aptly named Land of Golden Stones, where quaint townships built from local limestone shine yellow against the backdrop of green landscapes. The best villages to visit in the area include Oingt, Jarnoiux, Ternand, Charnay, Chamelet, Belmont-d'Azergues and Theizé.

Of course, a day trip to Beaujolais is recommended for wine lovers, where tasting lessons are available throughout the region.

A stunning natural heritage belongs to the Lyonnais Mountains, where a blend of valleys, meadows, woodland and foothills adorn the low mountain landscapes. The area is criss-crossed by miles upon miles of marked paths, especially useful for scenic walking and cycling trips.

Plenty of waymarked trails lead visitors past enchanting landscapes, rich flora and lovely fauna in the Pilat Regional Nature Park, a sprawling area of natural beauty shared with the neighbouring department of Loire. The park is also a great place for more adrenaline inducing outdoor activities such as white water rafting, river kayaking and hydrospeed.

Lyon, the capital city of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, merits a day trip due to its fantastic shopping and dining options, as well as a multitude of both historical and modern tourist attractions. The hilltop church and religious art museum at La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière is a splendid place for lovers of culture, while the massive Place Bellcour is the ideal space for people watching. Many other sightseeing opportunities are possible throughout the city including the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, the Confluence Museum, Tête d'Or Park, Saint Jean Baptiste Cathedral, the Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon-Fourvière and Lyon Botanical Garden.

There are plenty of child-friendly things to do in Lyon including the Mini World Lyon Amusement Park, Gadagne Puppetry Museum, Lyon Zoo and the Little Train of Tête d'Or Park.
