An exceptional water park, excellent facilities, leafy green surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere are among the benefits of a stay at 4-star Campsite Homair Château de Galaure in the Drome department of Rhône-Alpes. Lying close to the River Galaure  (200 m) and the charming village of Châteauneuf-de-Galaure, the resort is pitch-perfect for a camping escape in rural France.

The terrific aquatic complex onsite features a dizzying array of swimming pools, water slides, a lazy river, a splash playground and a spacious sun terrace. Although the campsite is far from the sunny shores of France, holidaymakers can enjoy the soft sands of the resort’s manmade lagoon that makes for an authentic beach experience.

Active campers will be suitably impressed by the sheer amount of things to do onsite, such as a range of sports including football, table tennis and boules. Outdoor activities to enjoy off-site include fishing in the river, cycling around the local area and horse riding. Entertainment for youngsters is extensive and exciting, from lively Kids’ Clubs and sports tournaments to treasure hunts and mini discos, children are well catered for. With the sets on the resort, a thrilling programme of evening entertainment brings the campsite to life, with live shows, musical performances and theme parties.  For those who enjoy playing tennis on their holiday, guests can enjoy a game at the nearby village tennis club, located just 250 metres from the campsite (additional fees apply).

The sun terrace of the campsite’s restaurant offers views of the pool and is the perfect place for dining out with the family. Enjoy traditional French and popular international dishes, as well as good options for children. A range of other useful services onsite include a bakery, bar, mini market, pizzeria and snack bar.

Around Homair Château de Galaure

With generous amounts of sunshine, the area around the campsite is ideal for outdoor activities such as river canoeing, horse riding, and canyoning, as well as day trips to the lovely town of Châteauneuf-de-Galaure. Hop over the Rhône and visit the lovely town of Annonay, which hosts a traditional market on Wednesdays and Sundays, and a fantastic Safari de Peaugres Wildlife Park that features over 900 types of animals.

One of the most enigmatic attractions in the surrounding area is Palais Idéal, a mysterious temple built solely by the now-famous Postman Cheval. The building borrows architectural styles from a variety of cultural and religious movements, culminating in a truly unique creation.

If you have your own transport and start the day early enough, you can enjoy a day trip to Lyon. Along with fantastic shopping and dining experiences, the city of flamboyant Gothic architecture features numerous sightseeing attractions including La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière, Confluences Museum, and Place Bellecour.
