Things to do when camping in Haute-Corse

A camping holiday in Haute-Corse promises perfect white sand beaches, turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea and generous lashings of sunshine. The coastline wrapping around the northern part of this gorgeous island is adorned with countless beautiful beaches, bays, coves and rugged cliffs.

At the stunning shore, you’ll love enjoying sun-drenched days relaxing on the beach, building sandcastles and swimming in the sea. A wide variety of aquatic activities are possible, ranging from adrenaline inducing jet skiing, surfing and diving, to more calming pursuits such as paddle boarding, sea kayaking and snorkelling.

Whilst our campings are excellent for simply getting away from it all, you can explore the far-region department by car. There are a wealth of stunning beaches and cool coastal towns at the very tip of the islands, especially on the Cap Corse.

A fantastic day trip awaits in Bastia, the largest town in the north, where excellent restaurants, cafes and shops feature alongside plenty of interesting tourist attractions. Visit the Bastia museum for insights into the city and the island as a whole. The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Bastia church is an iconic sight towering above the old town. Head to the Place Saint Nicolas for people watching and a weekend flea market, before heading to Port de Bastia to view yachts and quaint fishing vessels.

Away from the sparkling coastline, the rugged heartland of the department features mountains, lakes, valleys, rivers, forests and charming old villages, Lovers of walking, hiking and cycling trips will feel right at home in the lush environs of the interior.

At the very centre of Haute-Corse, Monte Cinto is the highest mountain on the islands where challenging hiking trails reward climbers with spectacular views and cooling fresh air. One of the most picturesque places to walk and hike is Restonica Valley, where canyons, rushing rivers and pine woodland decorate the land. The Asco valley is another brilliant expanse in which to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

If you have time and transport, wake up early and strive out to the western side of the island where the resort of Calvi makes it home. The area around Calvi features arguably the island’s most beautiful beaches while the town itself has plenty of notable attractions such as La Citadelle de Calvi, Revellata lighthouse, Grotte des Veaux Marins and Port de Calvi.
