Camping Ker Vella

Fancy a refreshing splash? Then you're in the right place at Camping Ker Vella! In the middle of the campsite is a fine, heated swimming pool that invites you to swim even when the weather is not so good, because it is covered. There is also a jacuzzi for a nice bubble. There is plenty of room to play or just float around.

The beach is less than a ten-minute walk away. You walk along a quiet path through the dunes to the wide sandy beach of Pentrez-Plage. There, the children can endlessly search for shells, build dams or fly kites in the Breton wind. During low tide, small pools form where even the little ones can safely paddle.

For older kids (or adventurous parents!), there's plenty of action at sea: from beach sailing to surfing and bodyboarding. Everything can be found nearby, including cosy beach bars for a crêpe overlooking the ocean.

At Ker Vella, it's all about simplicity and friendliness. No busy mega-camping with children's entertainment, but a well-organised site where children quickly make friends. There is a playground, mini golf, table tennis and a bouncy castle. In the game hall, you can play billiards, table football or have fun on a slot machine.

'In the evening, twice a week it is time for karaoke, a dance night or a quiz – perfect to end the day together while enjoying a drink on the terrace of the bar. That bar, by the way, is right by the pool, so even during the day you can grab a coffee or ice cream while you keep an eye on the kids.

The campsite has a small store with basic products and fresh rolls in the morning. There is no restaurant, but every week there is either a crepe night or a pig on a spit. And every Friday night, there is a food truck with pizza. 

Camping Ker Vella is ideally located for exploring southern Finistère. Start with a day in Douarnenez: a charming fishing town with a lively harbour, quaint stores and cosy terraces. Or take a boat trip to the mysterious island of Île Tristan, just off the coast.

For nature lovers, the coastal path (GR34) is a must. You walk with the whole family along cliffs, coves and hidden beaches – ideal for a picnic overlooking the sea.

Also fun and close by: the wide beaches of Pentrez-Plage and Saint-Nic. Perfect for sandcastles, kite flying and water sports. And those who want to take in something cultural can drive just under half an hour to Quimper, the capital of Finistère, with its colourful half-timbered houses, cathedral and lively markets.
