The swimming pool at the campsites is heated and just big enough for a refreshing dip or some relaxing bobbing in the sun. If the weather is not so nice, the sliding roof can be closed so you can still swim. During the day, you can participate in aqua gym or just plop down on a deck chair with a book. In summer, there is a regular pool party – with music, lights and kids happily jumping in the water until late.

And do you feel like something else? Within 15 minutes, you are on the shores of Lake Genève. In Excenevex, you'll find a fine sandy beach with shallow water, perfect for a day of paddling, swimming or having a picnic by the water.

What immediately stands out at this campsite is that everything is small-scale and orderly, but well organised. In high season, the animation team organises daily fun activities for children aged 6 to 10. Think of crafts, games or mini disco. For older children, there are sports tournaments and fun evening activities, such as bingo, karaoke or a blind test.

Fantastic football is played on the multi-sports field, and the table tennis tables are also often crowded. And don't feel like being busy for a while? Then the bowling alley is a nice place to do something quieter together.

A nice extra: you can rent bikes at the campsite (adult size) and explore the area. And for those who like to get a little more sporty: in the park nearby, there are tennis courts, a pumptrack and outdoor fitness equipment.

'In the evening, slide into the restaurant ‘Chez Titi’ at the campsite. Not complicated, but delicious: pizzas, hot meals, fresh salads and desserts to lick your fingers. Order a local beer or a homemade cocktail to go with it, and you'll be sitting on the terrace.

The location is perfect if you want to see some of the area. A five-minute drive away is Yvoire, a medieval lakeside village that is almost too good to be true. With kids, you can spend a morning wandering around there, eating ice cream and watching the boats in the harbour.

For more action, there is the climbing park in Sciez, with courses at different heights and also suitable for younger children. Les Aigles du Léman is a must for animal lovers: a beautiful park with impressive birds of prey shows, where you can easily spend half a day.

Are you in the mood for a city break? Genève is less than half an hour away. You will find pleasant squares, fountains, city parks and museums that are also fun for children.
