Its location is a dream for cyclists and hikers. Directly from Camping Seasonova Le Martinet in Briare-le-Canal, you step onto the paths along the Loire. The Loire à Vélo route takes you along the water, through quiet nature, past small villages and beautiful viewpoints. Along the way, you will see flocks of sheep in the floodplains, hear birds singing, and really feel as if time goes by more slowly. Less than two kilometres away, an extraordinary feat of engineering awaits: the famous canal bridge of Briare, designed in the time of Gustave Eiffel. A walk or bike ride across this metal bridge, with the canal over the Loire, is a getaway in itself. The route past mosaics and the old factory tells the story of beads, buttons and ornaments for which the city is famous. Those who love castles have plenty to choose from. Within about twenty kilometres are the castles of Gien, Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire and La Bussière. Each castle has its own story, garden and atmosphere - fun to walk through with children and fantasise together about knights and princesses. For even more nature and bird sounds, there is the Trousses-Bois nature reserve, where, with binoculars and a little patience, you can spot dozens of bird species in no time.
