Camping La Sierrecilla

As soon as the sun is high in the sky – and in Andalusië it almost always is – everyone slowly flows toward the pool. The large outdoor pool is the heart of the campsite. Nice and spacious, with a playful shape and enough space to swim laps or just float on an air mattress. Around the pool are comfortable loungers, and under the umbrellas, you will find the perfect shade. For the little ones, there is a shallow children's pool where they can splash around safely. Handy: from your lounger, you can easily keep a view of all corners of the pool. On hot summer days, the pool feels like a refreshing oasis. And with the view of the hills, it's like floating in a postcard. The pool is open from mid-June to mid-September, outside of which the sunbathing area is. 

This campsite is small but surprisingly complete. Children can expend their energy in the playground, at the sports field or on the bouncy castle. In high season, the animation team provides fun activities: crafts, games, a children's disco – our children were still talking about it weeks later.

Children ages 6 and up and adults alike can have fun at the Multi-Adventure Park with a climbing wall, zip line and rope bridges. There is also an extensive entertainment program with aqua gym, games in the pool and even archery and shooting activities. At the reception and on site, you will find tourist info and routes to further explore Andalusië

 At La Sierrecilla, there is plenty of action and entertainment all year round, regardless of the weather. Think aquagym, water polo, zip lines, climbing, archery, exciting nature walks and creative skating and biking opportunities. For children, there are discos, night swimming and scavenger hunts. All under the guidance of enthusiastic instructors. From relaxation to adventure: every vacation day is full of variety and energy for the whole family. And for a few euros, you can use the campsite's sauna. 

Also nice: the restaurant 'Sabor Andaluz' at the campsite serves delicious local dishes. Think paella, grilled fish or a good plate of tapas. And all with views of the setting sun. At the bar, sip a local wine or an ice-cold beer while the kids play some more.

There's also a small camp store for daily groceries and fresh bread in the morning. That makes breakfast on your own terrace extra tasty én easy.

Thanks to its central location, La Sierrecilla is a perfect base for excursions. Nearby is the nature reserve Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, a protected lake where you can spot flamingos. And yes, they are écht pink.

A little further away is Antequera, a historic city with narrow streets, white houses and impressive dolmens –prehistoric burial chambers that are UNESCO listed. 

The famous hiking trail El Caminito del Rey is also within reach. Exciting, but doable with older children. For those who prefer things a little more leisurely, there are numerous hiking and biking trails through the beautiful countryside in the area.

Fancy a day at the beach or in town? Málaga is about 70 kilometres away. Combine shopping, culture and a dip in the sea –all in one day.
