Camping Fyn
Funen is Denmark's third-largest island, with beautiful scenery and unique charm. Leaving the highway and driving into the picturesque countryside, you will find yourself in an area full of rolling hills and meadows full of flowers. Funen has long been known for its rich soil, which has brought prosperity to farmers over the centuries. This can still be seen in the many impressive mansions that characterise the island. During your trip, make a stop at one of the many farm stores, often signposted along the road. Here you can buy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Activities and attractions on Funen
The best zoo in Europe awaits in Odense. For children, it is one big adventure - from curiously peering at tigers to playing in the themed play zones. And also for adults, it is plenty of fun. Everywhere there is something to discover, learn and experience. This is no ordinary zoo, but a real journey of discovery through animals from all over the world.
If you still have not had enough of animals, you can also visit Naturama in Svendborg. Everything revolves around the power of nature: impressive skeletons of whales, lifelike presentations of birds of prey and land animals, supported by light, sound and stories that really come through. A place where children walk around with open mouths - and parents are secretly just as surprised.
Not to be missed on Funen: the fairytale Egeskov Castle, a moated castle that seems to come straight out of a picture book. The park around it is huge and full of surprises: from mazes to tree houses at height. Inside, there is an exhibition about camping and outdoor life - fun and familiar. For children, there are places to play, climb and explore everywhere.
And then, of course, there is Odense itself, the town of Hans Christian Andersen. In the old quarter stands his birthplace, where you literally follow his footsteps. At the Hans Christian Andersen House and Adventure Garden, his world really comes alive. Fairy-tale characters pop up behind every corner, and it feels like you've momentarily stepped into a story yourself.
Funen is full of magical places, educational excursions and surprisingly great things to do for families. Not just another island to drive through - but one to really explore.
Nature on Funen
On Funen you will find beautiful coastlines and lush forests, in quiet, unspoiled nature. You can picnic, take a brisk walk or just enjoy the birdsong in one of the island's many nature reserves. A hike along part of the Archipelago Trail is also a fun thing to do. The trail stretches 220 kilometres through the archipelago of South Funen, and you can take a longer hiking vacation in addition to a short hike.
Another place of interest is Svanninge Bakker, north of Faaborg. Here you can forget the stresses of everyday life and unwind in the fresh air and picturesque surroundings.
Culinary experiences on Funen
Funen is often called the "larder of Denmark," and for good reason. Many of the island's manors and castles now serve as restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Danish dishes based on local ingredients. Also, don't forget to try a real Funense brunsviger - a sweet and delicious cake that cannot be left out of the breakfast table.
