Things to do when camping in Istria

The charming coast of the peninsula offers a fantastic playground for campers seeking an activity-packed holiday in the sun. The turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and Scuba, while the fine pebble beaches are perfect for relaxing days.

Wander and wonder around the charming towns and villages that nestle themselves on the stunning coastline, and feature many historical and cultural attractions. The medieval town of Groznjan is a wonderful hilltop town teeming with music and art, and offers great views over the Mirna valley. Remnants of a Venetian past can be seen and felt in the beautiful streets of lovely Labin.

Another captivating town that boasts a Venetian heritage, Rovinj features colourful houses, vibrant cafes and restaurants, and a picturesque fishing port. Wander the narrow cobbled streets and plazas before exploring the quaint shops and galleries of Grisia Street.

The old town of Porec is a pedestrian only area that features shops, cafes and restaurants, with the latter serving up delicious local cuisine. The town has plenty of nice beaches, especially the pebble beach found on Saint Nicholas Island.

The Brijuni Islands are comprised of 14 islets and have such amazing natural beauty that legend tells us they once belonged to the Garden of Eden, and were placed there by angels. Venture onto the islands via ferry and make a stop at the Tito Museum and Safari Park.

Young campers will gleefully appreciate a day spend at one of the water parks in Istria, with popular options found at Istralandia and Aquapark Aquacolors. The zip lines and rope swings at Glavani Park offer an exciting and well-shaded respite from the sun, while Pula Aquarium gives a fascinating insight into marine life.
