A few kilometres from the quiet town of Struer, in northwest Jutland, lies Toftum Bjerge Camping. A cosy family campsite atop the hills of Toftum Bjerge, where you look out over rolling fields and forests from your pitch. The atmosphere is relaxed, the view soothing and the children? They will love it here from day one. The location on the hills, within walking distance of the beach and nature, as well as the pleasant feeling of waking up in the morning with fresh air and birdsong, ensures a top holiday in Denmark.

Water fun at Toftum Bjerge Camping

Although the campsite has no pool, the beach more than makes up for that. Just 300 metres from the campsite, you walk zó down toward the beach on the rugged west coast. It's calm, clean and clear — ideal for kids to play and splash, and for parents to relax with the murmur of the sea in the background.

You don't need a pool here at all, either: the kids catch crabs, look for fossils among the stones and run through the shallow water with their fishing nets. And if you're a little adventurous yourself, bring binoculars to spot birds from the cliff edge. The sunset here? You won't soon forget it.

And don't forget to hang around evenings, because Toftum Bjerge is an official Dark Sky area. Without light pollution, here you can see the night sky as you rarely see it. And if you are lucky? Then you'll even spot the Milky Way.

Facilities and entertainment at Toftum Bjerge Camping

Toftum Bjerge Camping is not a large-scale park, but for that very reason, it feels like coming home. Everything is uncluttered, friendly and family-oriented. There is plenty of room for the children to play: in the large playground, on the air trampoline, or with new friends at the petting zoo, where they can meet animals up close.

For those who like a game, there are several places to play minigolf or a game of petanque with the whole family. Nothing must, everything is allowed. Dogs are also welcome — there is even a fenced dog area where they can run around safely. Our Labrador loved it.

After an active day, it's time to sit down at the cosy campsite restaurant, where you can enjoy tasty Danish food, a cold speciality beer on tap or a well-deserved ice cream. Whether you're inside or on the terrace, the atmosphere is casual, the service friendly, and the plates well-filled.

In the morning, just walk over to the camp store for fresh rolls and a cup of coffee — no stress, no rush, just holiday the way it's meant to be.

Close to Toftum Bjerge Camping

The region of Central Jutland is surprisingly versatile. Directly from the campsite, you can take beautiful hikes and bike rides through the hilly landscape of Toftum Bjerge. And for the daredevils, there is even something very special: paragliding from the cliffs! You take off with views of sea and land — an experience you won't soon forget.

Fancy a cultural outing? Then visit the historical bunker Regelbau 41,1, just 7 kilometres from the campsite, or drive a little further to Venø Church, one of Denmark's smallest churches, picturesquely located on the island of Venø.

With children, the Viking Museum is highly recommended. Here they dive into the past of the tough Vikings, with stories, swords and shields. A fun and educational outing for young én old.

And if you want to explore a town for a while, Struer is less than a 10-minute drive away. There you can eat well, do some shopping, stroll along the harbour or visit the Struer Museum.
