Things to do when camping in Loir-et-Cher

One of the main attractions in the department, the royal châteaux that emerge majestically from the landscape have been wowing visitors to Loir-et-Cher for decades. The massive Renaissance palace of Château de Chambord, one of the most recognised in all of France, boasts architectural brilliance and lovely woodland.

Château de Cheverny, an ornate 17th century mansion features beautiful gardens and remarkably well-preserved interiors. Another famous Renaissance castle, Château de Chaumont has an enviable history and wonderful parklands. Other notable castles and palaces worth visiting in the department include Château Royal de Blois, Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre, Château de Villesavin and Château de Selles sur Cher.

Fans of outdoor activities can enjoy gentle walks through the lovely terrain of the Vallées de la Grand-Pierre et de Vitain Nature Reserve, scenic kayaking trips down the gentle flow of the Loire river and ambling through the horticultural havens of the department's Châteaux.

Wine lovers will feel at home in the department, with several places of interest that offer wine tasting, cellar tours and much more. Troglo Degusto, Caves Monmousseau, Domaine du Croc du Merle, Maison des Vins de Cheverny and Domaine du Vieil Orme offer all this and more.
